Tastes of Aloha is going gourmet with our Mango BBQ Ribs!
In this recipe, we're whipping up our own tangy DIY BBQ sauce with a hint of tropical mango flavor. For the sauce, we use several Tastes of Aloha classics, including Maui Fruit Jewels Mango Puree, Hawaii Maiden Macadamia Nut Oil, For Js Liquid Smoke, and Maui Onion Sea Salt.
We use the sauce to smother tender baby back ribs seasoned with Ohana Spice Trading Co Legend Seasoning & Rub.
A flavorful recipe to kick summer off the Hawaiian way!
1 TBSP Maiden Hawaii Premium MacNut Oil
½ cup onion, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 15 oz can of tomato puree
¾ cup ketchup
1¼ cup Maui Fruit Jewels Mango Puree
6 TBSP apple cider vinegar
2 TBSP maple syrup
1½ tsp For Js Liquid Smoke
½ cup dark brown sugar
½ tsp Maui Onion Sea Salt
¼ tsp black pepper
4 lbs baby back ribs
4 TBSP Ohana Spice Trading Co. Legend Seasoning & Rub
Mango BBQ Sauce
Heat Macadamia Nut Oil in large pan.
When heated, add onions and sauté for 1 minute or until soft, add garlic, and sauté for another minute.
Add remaining ingredients and combine well.
Bring to a boil, lower heat, and let simmer 20 minutes.
Stir occassionally.
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Sprinkle seasoning over ribs, rub in evenly. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for overnight or for a minimum of 1 hour.
Place ribs on baking sheet and spread a layer of mango bbq sauce over the ribs. Cover with foil and bake for 2 hours.
Preheat broiler, uncover ribs and broil with meat side up until browned.
Cut ribs and serve with mango bbq sauce.
